In the periodic table, the rows are called periods. Along the rows, the elements are organized by atomic number (the number of protons.) The rows also have the same energy level or the number of electrons. For example, in the first row, all of the elements' atoms have one energy level, and so on.The atomic mass is the number of neutrons plus the number of protons. The atomic mass can be a decimal, and it is ordered increasingly. The columns in the periodic table are called groups or families. Each family has a name. For example, group one is composed of alkali metals which is the family with Lithium, Sodium, and more. Each group also has the same number of outer, or valence electrons. Cladograms - Weekly Blog (10/29-11/5)

Diagraming Evolution, or How to read a Cladogram  by  Patrick Summary Cladograms are diagrams that help us understand the relationships between organisms. At the end of a branch, we write the name of the organisms. For example, in the image above, the names of the organisms are kangaroo, koala, bat, and lion. Next, by looking for the line connected by two of the organisms, we can see what trait they have in common. In this example, we can see that the kangaroo and koala are both connected to a trait, Marsupialia. This means that kangaroo and koalas both belong to the group Marsupialia. Next, we can see that the trait that all of the organisms are connected to is Mammalia, meaning that all of the organisms on this cladogram are mammals. Adaptations are things that help all living things be able to reach their ultimate goal. The ultimate goal for all living things is to survive to reproduce. There are things that animals and plants need to survive. Animals need: food water shelter air Plants need: sunlight water food air All living things change over time so it is easier for them to fit in their environment. For example, when wolves started being tamed, and allowed in houses, they started to change into dogs. Their teeth are not fit for hunting animals, or breaking them apart to eat. There are more things, but I have more to talk about. Do people ever tell you that you have the same eyes as your mom, or the same nose as your dad?
