Summary

This week we are learning about cells. Cells are fun to study! We watched Bill Nye the science guy talk about cells. We were answering a few questions about cells while listening to Bill. Now I will tell you a few things that I learned.

Cells are really important. Without cells you would not be alive. They are in all living things. They are in humans, animals, and plants. Cells come in all different shapes and sizes. There are a lot of different cells in your body. Each cell has a different job.

Now that you know that cells make up all living things don't make this mistake. You might think that a sugar cube is made out of cells because it came from sugar cane. Sugar cane is made of cells, but a sugar cube is made of atoms. A sugar cube is not living anymore. Cells make up all living things and atoms make up all non-living things.

Before fifth grade I did not really know what cells are. Now I know a lot of things about not only cells but also about their parts. Don't forget to read my blog for next week to find out more about organelles.
